Continuous Glucose Monitors
(CGM)

The best choice for diabetes patients on the go, continuous glucose monitors are easy to use and painless. Each CGM has two elements: a sensor that monitors your glucose at all times, and a reader with optional alarms. Read more about the two options we offer below.

Freestyle Libre 2

Freestyle Libre 2 by Abbott

Why Choose The Freestyle Libre 2?

The Freestyle Libre 2 is perfect for adults, 18 and over. It is not intended for children. It is a simple monitor that doesn’t require finger sticks but allows the user a continuous option for glucose monitoring. It is a good choice for people that are active or often on the go.

How the Device Works

This product works by attaching a sensor to the back of either arm (it should not be placed elsewhere.) Using the Freestyle Libre reader, you can monitor your glucose at any time. The system also has automatic monitoring that will alarm you should you need reminders. The alarms can be turned off or on.

Dexcom G6

The Dexcom G6

Why Choose the Dexcom G6?

The Dexcom G6 is for those patients that live busy lives, want an active lifestyle, travel, attend school, or anyone that doesn’t want to be held back by diabetes, or be bogged down with finger strips.

It’s a great choice for younger individuals.

The Dexcom G6 is a low-profile option that works with most smartphones, eliminating the need to carry additional testing devices. The system is easy to use and requires minimal work from the patient.

How the Device Works

The Dexcom G6 comes in three parts: a sensor, a transmitter, and a monitor. The sensor is placed under the skin on your abdomen or back (younger individuals will be instructed to place it on the back.) The transmitter sits on top of the sensor and sends signals automatically to your monitor or smartphone.

The monitor can be a reader provided by Dexcom, an app downloaded to your smartphone, or a mix of both.

The monitor provides automatic readings and alerts the patient whenever there is a concern.

The Dexcom G6 needs to be changed every 10 days.

Who Qualifies?

Most people with type 1 diabetes on commercial health insurance are eligible for Dexcom G6. To find out if you are eligible, reach out to our customer representatives for a free benefits check today: 1-800-758-7571
